CBD 101

What is CBD?

CBD (cannabidiol) is one of the primary phytocannabinoids derived from the hemp plant, scientifically known as the Cannabis sativa L plant. CBD is celebrated for its ability to help soothe the mind, reduce inflammation, reduce seizures and alleviate physical pain to name a few of it's unique properties.

While hemp is a member of the cannabis family, it does not contain the psychoactive compound THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) responsible for producing the mental “high,” that cannabis is commonly known for. This means your companion will not get “high,” nor will they get the munchies.

Hemp has a long and close relationship with humans and animals, with its first appearance in herbal medicine dating back to around 500 B.C. Hemp has been used for thousands of years in medicinal applications, as food, and for creating things like clothing and rope using its fiber. Originating in Asia, it has since been introduced to people, cultures, and healing practices across the world.

What does broad-spectrum CBD mean?

Broad-spectrum CBD and full-spectrum CBD are similar—but not interchangeable! Broad-spectrum and full-spectrum CBD both provide an entourage effect, meaning that the cannabinoids, terpenes, and official beneficial compounds that naturally occur in hemp work together to promote relief and feelings of ease. Whereas full-spectrum CBD may contain up to 0.3% THC, broad-spectrum does not contain any.

Many popular hemp oil products only contain hemp isolate, but we believe in providing hemp in its most elemental form, allowing the compounds to work in harmony and deliver the greatest benefits.

Is CBD safe for dogs?

Yes! Research has demonstrated that CBD is safe for dogs. Our CBD Dog Treats contain a thoughtfully dosed (and vet-approved) 2mg of broad-spectrum CBD per chew. You can safely adjust the dose as needed.

Every dog is unique and will have an individual response to CBD. We encourage you to watch for changes in your companion's well-being and rely on your pet parent intuition when introducing CBD into their care routine.

Will CBD get my dog high?

Nope! While we can’t speak for other brands, our CBD is certified THC-free. Hemp oil that has been properly produced does not contain enough THC (the psychoactive compound found in cannabis) to produce a high.

Our CBD promotes mental and physical relaxation, but your companion won’t get the munchies.

When will we see results?

Health looks different for everybody—consider things like age, weight, breed, lifestyle, and your companion’s specific needs when determining what healthy means for your family. Results will vary based on your companion’s unique needs and goals.

Our CBD Dog Treats can help provide short-term and long-term relief from anxiety, pain, mobility challenges, and more. A holistic vet can help you set health goals tailored to your family.
